Psychological testing can be valuable to the assessment process in many ways. Test data may support or challenge a diagnosis or clinical impression, provide clinical information that may not be adequately covered or accessible within the time limits of clinical interviews done at the medical clinics. As surgeons and medical physicians order medical tests during a preoperative history & physical examination to provide data to support established clinical impressions and to uncover others, psychologists who are trained in psychological testing administer tests for similar reasons.
